Computer Engineering is mainly focused on the practical side of computers, basically, hardware, building computer systems, you mainly learn about components such as microprocessors and such with a bit of programming as well.

Computer Science is really just the reverse, you focus more on general programming, such as java/C++, while Computer Engineering is more of an applied science type, computer science is more of an applied math type. Of course, you also study a bit of hardware, its not computers unless you know both right? ;)

Personally, I would say that colleges that offer Computer Science and engineering as one degree can swing both ways, do you mean a concurrent degree where you major as one and minor in the other? Because thats what I intend to do. The advantage to that is that you are more knowledgable in both fields and employers see this as a good thing. Of course, it also inevitably means more work. I would assume that you take both computer science and engineering courses if the college offers them both as a single degree.

I'm choosing Computer Engineering mainly cause hardware appeals to me more than programming at the moment, of course, I have the option of doing double degrees but well, the increase in workload doesn't really appeal.

Have fun choosing :D
